Sh*t happens, right?
Well that's what Mariah Carey shared with her millions of her social media followers last night following her anticipated Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve performance in New York's Times Square.
Known for her high-range octaves, shimmering falsetto, and numerous chart-topping hits, the audience was in for much a surprise when her set hit the bar unexpectedly low from what we've come to know the legend for. It began with an awkward moment with her dancers while strutting down stage stairs and only continued with technical difficulties.

In the video, it shows a befuddled Carey who appears unable to hear the music during the song "Emotions." And while trying to lip sync, which wasn't going so well for the diva, she stopped and decided to let the audience finish the lyrics for her. "I'm trying to be a good sport here," she told the crowd.
Later during the performance that continued to go down hill, she attempted to sing "We Belong Together," which ended in yet another malfunction. "It just doesn't get any better," Carey said, leaving the stage.

After the fiasco, Carey took to social media today, wishing everyone a happy and healthy new year. "Here's to making more headlines in 2017," she tweeted with a hint of humor.

Well, at least she can sort of laugh at herself.
